The dog lay lifelessly on the median as traffic rushed by and people gathered around the unconscious but breathing figure. When our rescuers lifted him, he didn’t even flinch, his body limp and unresponsive. The scene was heart-wrenching, and time seemed to stand still as they carefully transported him to the hospital.

Despite the absence of open wounds, we discovered that both of Trooper’s front legs were fractured, causing him immense pain with every movement.

The road to recovery was going to be long and arduous. We gently placed him in two splints to immobilize his legs and began the process of confining Trooper to “bed rest” for a month. This was essential to allow his bones to heal properly. Trooper, who had already shown incredible resilience, accepted his new reality with remarkable grace.

Looking at him now, it’s hard to believe that this lively, happy dog was once lying helplessly on a median, fighting for his life. We’re pretty sure he thinks it was all worth it, and so do we.
