The Person He Loved Most Tried To End His Life To Avoid Paying For The Vets

Meet Chico!! On July 10th, he lived a nightmare. The person he loved most tried to end his life with a hammer. A team from animal protectors happened to be in the right place at the right time. They heard Chico’s screams and intervened immediately. They called us, and we rushed to save this poor soul. He was in a very serious condition. His jaw and many teeth were broken. His brain was severely damaged, and one eye couldn’t see anything. A Miracle was needed for him to exist because she didn’t want to pay a vet for him. The owner was going to take his life, and she was arrested in the act, but to pay a lawyer she had money and was released Meanwhile…

The next day, luckily Chico gained a bit of strength. He opened his eyes and started whimpering quietly. He was able to take a bit of food with medicine, and his temperature also stabilized. He started to accept and react to our care, just a little bit and very slowly, but it’s a good sign. Chico underwent some surgical procedures, such as the roof of his mouth, which had several broken bones from the hammer blows. And over time, he would undergo more surgeries, as he still had the palate of his mouth all open, and one of his little eyes… vets did several procedures and attempts to avoid removing it.

What worried us was that he didn’t respond to his limbs. Doctors said the cause was brain damage. He would need physical therapy. Despite having every reason to give up, living with the human race, he continued showing us his faith in better days. He showed us his strong will. We all were very impressed with him.

Day three, Chico started his first therapy underwater. He was still not used to it, so it was a bit challenging at first, but it quickly went very well. After a week of therapy, Chico was able to stand up and even walk. He is really a strong boy. We still saw Chico with a bandaged neck and a probe because he still had wounds on his neck and also the opening for a passage that he sometimes used to feed. The procedures were being done little by little. He was regaining his weight and vitality. His right eye was a bit swollen, and it was necessary to have enucleation surgery. And once again, Chico showed his strength, and he had a fantastic recovery.

Two months later, Chico is fully healthy, and the great news is that he was adopted by the best family – the people who literally fought for his life, including the vet who made the miracle of his life happen. She adopted him, loves him, and takes good care of him. Chico is no longer afraid now; he’s more confident and lovely.
