Pit bulls are often thought as intimidating and frightening animals. But in reality, they are loving, loyal dogs as much as any other breed.

In fact, pit bulls are very capable of being friendly and protective, they just do not usually get a chance to show it.

Fortunately, there are pit bulls like Chester who are out to dispel this stereotype. He was finally able to receive the forever home he had always wanted, thanks to some witty social media work by an animal shelter worker.

For the first six years of his life, Chester was forced to live at the North Folk Animal Welfare League in Long Island, New York. While other pals of his were getting adopted, Chester’s turn never came.

He spent years waiting for someone to come along and realize that he was just as capable of love as any other dog.

Gabby Stroup, a manager at North Folk Animal Welfare League, couldn’t stand people passing on adopting Chester. She took matters into her own hands and did whatever she could to help get Chester adopted.

She took a picture of Chester holding a sign that asked why no one wanted to adopt him. What happened next is amazing.

The photograph went viral on the Internet and was shared over 20,000 times. Gabby received queries from all across the United States about families who were interested in adopting Chester.

From Oregon, South Carolina, and even Michigan, families phoned in inquiring about Chester’s availability.

It took only two days for Chester to finally find the family he had been desperately waiting for. A family with two young boys came into the shelter and immediately fell in love with Chester.

Adi and Dana Or were happy to adopt Chester, and Adi told the media that he felt as if their union was meant to be.
