The dog has had a hard life since he was abandoned in Puerto Rico. He has a number of health problems and has been bitten by other stray dogs.
However, Sniffles has made great progress since his initial case and may soon find a home after visiting the US for treatment and sharing his experience with a Florida-based animal charity.
It is believed that Sniffles had to endure horrific living conditions in Puerto Rico. He has whipworms, hookworms, and other parasites, so his teeth need immediate treatment.
According to reports, he was attacked by other stray dogs, as a result of which he suffered numerous injuries and various diseases, and as a result he no longer had a nose. He was eventually adopted into a family in the United States after a local animal rescue organization found him in Puerto Rico, where he thought he could receive better medical care.
However, this was only a temporary job. Cold was in danger because he needed constant medical care and kept escaping. He eventually found a home with Poodle & Pooch Rescue in Florida, a volunteer-run organization that rescues 500 to 600 puppies a year.
On December 19, rescue forces received him and immediately began searching for a place for him. He was featured on Orlando’s news program WESH on December 24 as a result. He’s a sweet, playful pup, so we’re glad his story has sparked so much interest since it was broadcast locally in Central Florida.

The organization hopes that anyone who decides not to adopt Sniffles will adopt another cat with special needs, give them away to one, or foster animals in lieu of some of the excellent alternatives available to them. Neighborhood resident Genesis Diaz was nursing a cold in the meantime.
