The Brosseau family adopted their dog, Duke, from an orphanage in Portland, Connecticut. Duke is dissatisfied with life in the orphanage, but gradually becomes an ideal companion for his family.
Six years later, Duke is expressing his gratitude to Brosseau in the best way possible!
The family recently welcomed their baby daughter, Harper, and Duke immediately became very protective of his sister.
One night, while the family was sleeping peacefully, Duke suddenly ran into his parents’ room and jumped on their bed.
He was shaking uncontrollably, and refused to carry out any commands given to him. Finally, his mother realized something was wrong.
Duke took his parents into a nine-week-old baby’s room and alerted them to a baby who wasn’t breathing at all.
The family takes the child to the emergency room, and the doctor saves Harper’s life at the last minute!
When Duke made sure his sister was breathing well and was fine, he finally calmed down!
The family shuddered to think what might have happened if Duke had not reminded them in time. They are forever grateful to the rescue boy, who is completely unaware that he is a hero!
We hope Duke’s story inspires more and more people to give our brave and loyal rescue dogs a chance!
