It is unknown who abandoned this mother bear and her pups in a bag, alone in the middle of nowhere in Brazil. We do, however, know that their lives were spared by the goodwill of a good Samaritan.

When told of the dogs’ situation, Josiane Almeida, an animal rescuer from Lagoa da Prata, hurried there with her husband to assist the animals.

It seems like a long time ago. Puppies weak and disoriented from lack of breath and heavy bleeding from the mother.”

When Josiane approached them, the pup was initially frightened and rightly apprehensive, but she soon recognized that they were there to save her. A little family that had been cruelly discarded like trash was standing next to her, with a dog standing by her and three more stuck within the sack.

The mother appeared to be dealing with an unidentified health issue, and the four puppies were all sickly and ravenous. But at least they knew they were safe now; they had no idea how much their circumstances would improve.

Josiane took the dog and puppies to feed and water them while they recovered from their experience. Josiane has roughly 50 rescued pets at home.

She then drove them to the vet, where they discovered that the mother had a cancerous tumor that needed to be treated right away. But fortunately, she had healthy puppies.

Following a social media post about the need for donations, Josiane’s friends and followers offered to pay for the dog’s chemotherapy.
