If you ever visit the Bullock County Humane Society in Alabama, you simply cannot walk past Speck’s kennel without stopping to say hello to him. Although Speck may seem like an ordinary dog, his interactions with visitors are unforgettable.
The adorable dog enjoys being around people and is very affectionate towards anyone who visits him at the shelter. Whenever someone comes near his enclosure, he eagerly puts his face through the bars and extends his paws to make friends and hold hands.
Speck is a lovable dog who craves human affection, according to Desiray Miracle-Wilder, the shelter’s director. Whenever people approach him, he extends his paw through the bars of his kennel, seeking their touch and holding hands with them. It makes him sad when they have to leave to finish their chores. Speck has lived at the Bullock County Humane Society since fall 2018, having been a stray before that. The scars on his face suggest that he may have had a tough life before, but despite this, he is still a kind and gentle dog.
Wilder explained, “All he craves for is human touch. He will snuggle up to you and nuzzle his head against you. If you give him your hand, he’ll hold onto it tightly. If you pet his belly, he’ll roll over with happiness.”

But it’s great news that he will soon be going to his forever home in New York. Speck will find his amazing adopter thanks to the help of Allie’s Hope For Paws Dog Rescue, who fell in love with him after seeing his video on Facebook.
Now, he is awaiting transport so he can finally meet his new owner Mike. Meanwhile, Mike is eagerly anticipating his arrival. “He will be running on a 26-acre farm with Mike, his family, and two furry brothers!” Wilder wrote on Facebook.
Wilder is optimistic that Speck’s story will encourage people to welcome stray dogs like him. “We are thrilled. Speck’s adorable video not only helped him get adopted but also led to the rescue of some other fur babies and we received donations of food,” said Wilder.
