On a cold January day, the team stumbled upon an emaciated dog seeking refuge in a front yard. The skeletal figure leaned against the house, wary yet hopeful as the rescue team approached. It was evident that this pup, later named Nico New Beginnings, had been enduring hardships alone, yearning for kindness and assistance.
Led by Donna Lochmann, the team approached Nico cautiously, offering words of comfort and support. To their surprise, Nico eagerly embraced their presence, melting into their arms with gratitude. Despite his dire circumstances, Nico exuded sweetness and a readiness to reciprocate affection.
Lochmann showered Nico with love before guiding him to the rescue Jeep. Remarkably, Nico needed no coaxing; he willingly allowed himself to be transported to SRSL’s headquarters, where he received immediate medical attention. It was discovered that Nico weighed a mere 32 pounds, half of what he should have. Despite his malnourishment, Nico’s spirit remained resilient, eagerly seeking out cuddles and human companionship.
Under the dedicated care of SRSL, Nico began to thrive. He gained weight steadily, basking in the affection of his caregivers and foster family. Known for his insatiable love for cuddles, Nico’s gentle demeanor endeared him to all who crossed his path.
Currently flourishing in his foster home, Nico continues to make strides towards recovery each day. His playful personality shines through, and he delights in the warmth and comfort of his loving environment.
