Shocking footage shows an out-of-control bulldog attacking a herd of highland cows, even while being knocked high.
The Daily Mail on March 26 reported that a black and white bull dog named Winston frantically attacked a herd of highland cows in a field in Glasgow, Scotland, United Kingdom. The dog kept biting the cows’ legs and tails while the owner tried to call him back.
Even though the cows were outnumbered, they still ran away from the aggressive dog. At one point, a bull counterattacked, knocking the dog up with its horns. Not giving up, the dog continued to attack the young in the herd.
Finally, the new owner called Winston back.
Conor Ashe, who took the video, said he was walking in Pollock Park when he heard the cows bellowing. The 27-year-old ran towards the commotion and saw the dog rushing towards the cows.
“The dog jumped up and bit a cow by the tail and then chased the young. I wasn’t happy to see that but couldn’t do anything. Most of the people who witnessed the incident were shocked,” Ashe said.
The 27-year-old said that Winston’s owner initially called it back several times, but to no avail. Only later, this person ran close to be able to make the pet stop attacking the cows.
“I think the dog’s owner was afraid of being attacked by cows if he got too close, so he hesitated to approach. When he called the pet back, this person left,” Ashe said.
The 27-year-old man reported the incident to the park management.
A spokesman for Glasgow City Council told local media: “This is a shocking incident and will have a direct impact on the cows in the park and the young. People walking their dogs in the park. Parks should control their pets. We will report the matter to the police.”
