Video: Dog fights with giant snake to protect owner’s house
Two brave dogs fight with a giant snake up to 1.5m long to protect their owner’s family.
Members of a family in the southern Indian city of Salem were resting at home when a giant snake up to 1.5 meters long suddenly slithered into their home. Two brave dogs immediately appeared to protect their owner’s home.
In the video recorded by a member of the owner’s house, two dogs pulled the snake from the door of the house into the garden. Then, they take turns biting and tossing the opponent into the air and then teamed up to tear it apart until it broke in two.
The snake in the video has been identified as a Ptyas mucosa. This animal can grow to a maximum length of about 3m. Lucky for the dogs, this is not a venomous snake.
However, cobras become very aggressive when they defend their territory and often break into fields and houses in search of rats for food.
Southern India is an area with many poisonous and dangerous snakes. About 46,000 people in India die every year from snake bites.
