This Couple Can’t Resist Adopting 3-Legged Dogs

When Breanna Sarver made the decision to get a puppy, she began searching online for a healthy, active golden retriever. I felt Casey was born with three legs but was destined to be her dog since they clicked right away.

Once she saw Casey’s photo, Sarver traveled two hours to pick her up and welcome her properly into her family. Once they met and started working together, Sarver and Casey were inseparable. Casey has never acted strangely. She was simply content to live with her mother and her closest friends.

Sarver told The Dodo that the best way to describe her, according to everyone he’s ever met, is “happy.” She had a steady smile. She rides in the truck with me to work every day and loves meeting new people, making friends, saying goodbye to me at the end of the day when I get home, and choosing her favorite toy at Petco. She was really nice and loyal. I worked as my right-hand man for over a year, and I never left home without it.

Because of Casey’s beauty and their desire to help those like her, Sarver and her partner decide to adopt Harper, a Shepherd mix. Everything was going well for Harper and Casey after they moved in together, but a month later, tragedy struck.

Shortly after picking up Harper, Casey perishes in an accident. Her mother was at a loss as to how to respond in such a grave circumstance, and her parents were dumbfounded. Two days after Casey’s death, Sarver phoned Casey’s adoptive wife to break the terrible news. Despite the fact that Casey’s brother, who was born with only three legs, was looking for a home, the mother wasn’t completely distraught.

Sarver claims, “I never thought I would be able to accept another dog in the family for so long after the heartbreaking loss of Casey.” But sometimes fate takes incredible measures.

Four days after Casey’s death, Chance was welcomed into the family the moment Sarver picked him up.

“It was one of the best choices I could ever make,” Sarver said. Despite the pain I was going through, “He comforted me in ways I could never have imagined.”

Sarver was amazed at how similar Casey was by chance as he got older. They had similar personalities, outward features, smiles, and a bit of a weirdness. Casey never seemed to go after Chance’s adoption and was always in Chance’s life.

“Sometimes I forget that they are not the same dog,” Sarver said. Anyone else will have a hard time understanding when I say that I believe her spirit is still with us through chance.

After helping Sarver manage her grief over Casey’s death, Chance and the other three-legged dogs finally welcome a blind puppy named Oakley into their pack. After adopting Oakley, the couple began naming their dogs “Tripod Band.”

Some people sometimes wonder how a married couple can have so many three-legged creatures, although naturally it is about them. For them, it is simply their family.

Contrary to popular assumption, Sarver claims that people don’t struggle as much with three-legged dogs. They excel at jumping, running, swimming and playing. I can only conclude that they burn much faster than four-legged canines. They can move larger objects with fewer legs by jumping, however it takes more effort than walking. We want to take them on vacation, but we have to be careful not to overwork them.

To prevent undue stress on their joints, the pair must constantly monitor the animals’ weight. In order to help prevent future joint problems, they keep themselves healthy and active and take supplements regularly.

The tripawd’s three canines seem to really care for each other and realize they’re all in this together. The three take care of each other in ways that regularly startle their parents, especially when one of them is sick and the other two rush to his side.

Sarver claimed he knew about Oakley’s blindness before we were, “when we brought Oakley home.” Harper’s obsession with wands meant that he would never be able to obtain any of Chance’s wands. Oakley would wait while the child passed by, making sure he didn’t lose the stick and holding it for him to chew on.

When she first met Sarver and her partner Casey, they had no plans to adopt three-legged dogs, but after witnessing the love and joy these creatures can bring, they have now changed their minds. They were thrilled to see their little family grow up honoring Casey by welcoming Willow, a puppy, as the fourth member of the team.

These mounts, in Sarver’s opinion, are beautiful because they never feel sorry for their limitations or differences and are always grateful to be alive.
