When police received a report about a dog, they discovered a haunting note pinned to her collar revealing her story.
Officers from the Platteville Police Department in Wisconsin were alerted about a dog in a Moundview park. Upon arriving at the scene, the dog approached one of the officers apparently asking for help.
According to a post on their Facebook page, the dog jumped into the officers’ patrol car. Then they noticed a note pinned to her collar;
“Please help,” read the note. “Take me to a shelter. My name is Lola.”
While the exact circumstances remain unclear, it appears that Lola has been abandoned by her owners. Police are now contacting the public for any information that could lead them to the owners of the Lolas and enable them to have a conversation.
It is always sad to witness situations where dogs are left behind; But it’s important not to judge. Given the contents of the note, some speculate that Lola’s owner may be experiencing difficulties and unable to care for her.
“You never know what people may be going through…maybe they are experiencing homelessness or financial limitations,” one individual commented on the post.
“The individuals who left Lola behind may have had intentions, though not the decision. They may have felt it was their choice, at the time. However, we are comforted to know that Lola is now receiving care at the Platteville Veterinary Clinic and is available for treatment.” adoption.
If you are in the area and interested in providing Lola a home, you can call the clinic at 608 349 6726 for information.
It is truly heartbreaking to see any dog abandoned on the streets like this. Clearly, Lola was desperate for help. We take solace in knowing that she is now being cared for. We sincerely hope you find a loving family soon!
