When Ryan Jessen, 33, died unexpectedly from a brain hemorrhage, hospital staff made an unexpected gesture.
“The hospital was so kind to us and allowed us to bring my brother’s dog to say goodbye so she could understand why her skin would never come home.” “If you know my brother, you know how much he loves his sweet dog,” Ryan’s sister, Michelle, wrote on her Facebook page.
While the video of Ryan and his dog Molly’s moment was reserved for the family circle, it received global attention.
“The stories of others, their sharing of our grief, and the kindness of so many people moved us deeply and humbled us,” Michelle writes.
The bereaved dog, Molly, is in good hands, according to Ryan’s sister: “Don’t worry about the dog!” We will keep it!!! She’s part of the family.” Michelle added that Ryan’s donated heart is poised to save the 17-year-old’s life, just in time for Christmas.
